According to the evaluation of the human rights violations in Crimea, 424 violations of the right to a fair trial have been reported by the Crimean Tatar Resource Center for the last year 2020. 355 of violations concerned the representatives of the native Crimean Tatar people. 

 The currently mentioned indices are lower than those of the last years for the similar period. 692 cases of violations had been reported for the year 2019 and 492 cases of violations had been recorded for the year 2018.

The Crimean Tatar Resource Center also highlights that such statistics indicates a purposeful detention of over 100 political prisoners, unlawful application of the Russian legislation with a political aim, i.e. with the aim of cracking down a nonviolent fight of the Crimean Tatars and pro-Ukrainian activists as well as their protest against the occupation of Crimea. During the period under report, the mass cases of the detention extension, dismissals of the appeals and motions of the barristers. Thus, 16 people were convicted to 3 or 8 — 19 years of liberty deprivation while 47 people were taken under custody.    

Besides, 189 cases of the detention prolongation were recorded.
