In occupied Crimea, the quantity of the officially registered unemployed citizens has become 9 times higher for 2020. Thus, as of January 1st, the current year, on the peninsula, there were 48 thousand of the unemployed people, as they reported.  That was informed by so-called Secretary of Labour and Social Protection Yelena Romanovskaya.

‘By the end of 2020, the amount of the employed population had been 866700 people. In spite of the fact that the employed people amount had increased by 12 thousand people, we can observe a substantial growth of the registered unemployed people.  During 2020 and since the start of pandemic, that number became 9 times higher and increased from 5 290 people who were on the books as of January 1st, 2020, to 48 thousand people as of January 1st, 2021’, Ms. Romanovskaya told and added that numbers of the unemployed people who are officially registered had been replenish with the citizens who had not worked anywhere or had been self-employed. As a result, at the moment, on the labour-market, there are four people contending for one vacant work place.

‘As of January 1st, 2021, the amount of vacancies reached 12867 people. That is one thousand times less than it was in 2020. The burden on the labour-market has increased. We had 0.5 unemployed units per each vacancy. The amount of vacancies was twice or triple as high as those who were on the books in the employment centres. Today, the burden on the labour-market has reached almost four units per one vacancy’, the official informed.
