As we have already reported, Russian punitive forces in Crimea have focused on “detecting and preventing” public manifestations of any disloyalty to Russian aggression against Ukraine. At the same time, Russian propaganda highlights the facts of “disloyalty”, in particular, apparently fabricated by the Russian secret services in order to “expose the inhumanity of the nationalist underground”.
The situation with the intensification of anti-Ukrainian hysteria leads to the fact that in Yalta, a “caring citizen” informed the punitive occupiers about the “Ukrainian-style manicure” seen in a local woman.
In Simferopol, the “vigilant public” summoned punitive forces to detain a “saboteur” who turned out to be a Russian “RT” propagandist who brought “trophies” with Ukrainian symbols from Kherson, where he was performing an “editorial task”. Such initiative manifestations of “protection of the Russian world” are peculiar first of all to the families of the Russian military and other Russian colonizers of the peninsula.
At the same time, ordinary Crimeans, who massively condemn Russian aggression, themselves become its victims if they express their sentiments publicly. In particular, according to statistics released by Russian propagandists, from March 4 to April 12, more than 600 people were punished, primarily fined, for so-called “discrediting the Russian army”, 37 of them residents of the occupied Crimea.
Thus, taking into account the population of Russia and of the occupied Crimea, the disloyalty of the Crimean residents was recorded by the occupiers’ “courts” about five times more often than the “average” one in the entire territory, controlled by the aggressor state.
It is noteworthy that the only regions of Russia proper, where the courts imposed fines under the new Article 20.3.3 in greater numbers than in the occupied Crimea, were St. Petersburg and the Kaliningrad region. At the same time, in a significant number of Russian regions, the facts of public condemnation of Russian aggression by the local population by the local punitive forces and courts were not revealed at all.
