During March 5, Russian aggressor’s troops actively used their own aircraft based in the Crimean airfields in the combat zone in Southern Ukraine. This led to the Ukrainian Armed Forces reporting on the destruction of Russian troops’ planes and helicopters. In particular, in the Mykolaiv Region, an attack helicopter based in Dzhankoy in military unit 46453 and a Black Sea Fleet fighter, based in Novofedorivka were hit, with the Ukrainian military detaining its crew. There are also reports of other destroyed Russian aircraft. Under such conditions, according to the Ukrainian authorities, on the evening of March 5, the aggressor’s troops sent their “Tu-22” bombers to bomb Mykolayiv and other cities in southern Ukraine. Earlier, the low morale of the aggressor’s flight crew based in the Crimea was repeatedly reported.
