The authoritative scientific edition, the “European Journal of International Law”, has published a thorough scientific study, done by our Association’s expert Olexiy Plotnikov and devoted to the legal assessment of Russia’s application to the European Court of Human Rights in framework of the water supply to the Crimea. This article emphasizes that the Russian Federation, having filed an interstate lawsuit in Strasbourg, has fallen into a legal trap because it did not calculate the procedural consequences of such own actions in terms of the next mandatory determination by the European Court of its jurisdiction over Crimea in this case. The full text of Associate Professor Plotnikov’s article “The Proceedings Flow While Water Does Not: Russia’s Claims Concerning the North Crimean Canal in Strasbourg” is available on the magazine’s website, as a blog.
