On February 24, repressions against the Crimean Tatar People were discussed at online conference by the German Society for Eastern European Studies, the Society for the Protection of Oppressed Peoples, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Ukraine, and the Crimean Tatar Resource Center. The discussion was attended by German politicians, experts and prominent public figures, as well as by the members of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People and by the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. During the discussion, the Association’s expert Professor Boris Babyn suggested two topics for further discussion: Germany’s possible assessment of Russia’s violations the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination in Crimea and the prospects of Germany’s recognition the deportation of Crimean Tatars as the genocide. The documentary film “Crimean Tatars: Struggle for Survival”, prepared by the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, was presented as part of this event.
