A few days ago, “ARC” reported on the usage by Russia of Maria Butina, previously convicted of working for the Russians by a U.S. court, for propaganda purposes in the occupied Crimea [1]. And now the criminal Valery Gratov, who was used by the Russian special services in 2014, when he coordinated and dispatched pro-Russian “veterans” to Crimea to assist in the attempted annexation of the peninsula, “surfaced” in Moldova.

The Moldovan media disseminated information that the other day at the Chisinau airport, retired colonel Valery Gratov, born in 1952, was detained with a bag of medals for Russian collaborators. Gratov was denied to entry to the Moldova territory, which prevented his attempt to penetrate the unrecognized Transnistria. “In his luggage there were many medals, military patents, which were to be transferred to the residents of Transnistria. It is clear that Tiraspol is stepping up its propaganda and has invited a “defender” for a symbolic military action,” Moldovan Member of Parliament Kirill Motzpan said on his “Facebook” page [2].

At the same airport, Gratov was detained by officers of the Moldovan special service “SIB” during a similar attempt on December 25, 2014. In certain circles, Valeriy Aleksandrovich is well known as the person who organized and headed from 1992 to 1996 the security service of the so-called “President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic”. He served to the Russian aggressor in Abkhazia in 1993, in South Ossetia in 2008, as well as in Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine from 2014 to 2017.

In the Transnistrian region, from which Russia so does not want to leave (having promised the OSCE to withdraw its troops and ammunition from there back in 1999), Gratov headed the “Transnistrian Regional Branch of the Union of Russian Paratroopers”. He also noted the leadership of the “Ony Zasluzhili” (“They deserved”) charity foundation, the main activity of which was declared as “to help veterans of local wars, to families of the victims and veterans of power structures”.

he was exactly in this capacity when the Russian special services needed him in 2014 in Crimea, as a supplier of “cannon fodder”, and also as an active promoter of the “Russian world” values . It is noteworthy that in June 2017, Gratov was detained at the border while trying to enter the Transnistrian region from Ukraine using a forged Ukrainian passport in the name of Voitenko Valery Georgievich, born in 1954.

It was reported that he also had a Belarusian passport, possibly a forged one. Such is Mr. Gratov, a universal citizen of the “Russian world” [3]. Later, the Prosecutor’s Office of the Odessa Region sent an indictment against the citizen of the Russian Federation Gratov for participation in a terrorist organization in criminal proceedings, which was led by the Security Service of Ukraine. And on December 29, 2019, Gratov in a group of 44 persons was transferred by Ukraine for exchange to Russia.

But as we can see, the invadders have an acute shortage of specialists in sabotage, so they have to use retirees. However, for a decaying empire, apparently any stale staff will do.
